Don’t Trust Fish

This amazing book isn’t just a lot of fun, it is very educational for kids.  The book goes into the discussion of mammals, reptiles and amphibians and how fish do not fall into any specific category.  Children will learn all kinds of information about fish and will enjoy every minute.  This is a must read!

 

 

 

 

Tips for  Reading:

  • After reading the story, ask the child to tell what they learned about some of the animal groups discussed in the book.
  • After reading, ask the child to tell you some things they learned about fish.
  • After reading, ask the child to tell you why the book is called “Don’t Trust Fish”.

Cooking Time:

Goldfish Snack Mix

Kids will love this delicious mix and can help by measuring and mixing all of the goodies.

4 cups Goldfish crackers

1 cup pretzel Goldfish crackers

1/3 cup chocolate chips

1/3 cup almonds

1/3 cup Craisins

1/3 cup white chocolate chips

1/3 cup peanut butter chips

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and enjoy.

Goldfish Drops

These sweet treats are delicious and so easy to make.  Children can help by measuring, mixing the ingredients and dropping the treats.

1 package butterscotch chips (1 1/2 cups)

1 tablespoon shortening

1 cup pretzels, broken

2 cups Goldfish crackers

  • Using a microwave safe bowl, melt the chips and shortening in 30 second intervals, stirring after each.
  • Stir in the pretzels and Goldfish crackers.
  • Drop by tablespoons onto wax paper.
  • Allow to set for an hour.

Makes 18 servings.

Goldfish Bowl Cookies

Everyone loves Oreos and these are delicious and really cute.  Children can help by dipping the cookies and adding the decorations.

White candy melts

Blue candy melts

Double Stuffed Oreos

Graham crackers, crushed

Goldfish crackers

Pearl Sprinkles

  • Using a microwave safe dish, melt the white candy melts in 30 second intervals, stirring after each.
  • Dip Oreos into the melted chocolate and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.  Allow to dry.
  • Using a microwave safe dish, melt the blue candy melts in 30 second intervals, stirring after each.
  • Dip the white Oreos into the blue chocolate about 3/4 way.
  • Return to the parchment paper.
  • While wet, place the Goldfish onto the Oreo.  Add the pearls for bubbles and crushed graham crackers for sand.

Make as many as you would like.
