This book is just a fun Christmas story.  Santa was in such a hurry to begin his yearly ride, that he forgot his suspenders.  Max was waiting up to see him and accidently saw Santa’s underpants.  No worries, Max made sure that Santa had a way to hold up his pants for the rest of his deliveries.   Children will enjoy hearing about Santa’s adventure.

This inspiring Christmas story will warm your heart.  In our story, Little Red’s goal was to help Santa deliver presents at Christmas time, even though she was very small.  With much help from dear friends, she made her way north and almost to the North Pole.  She learned so much along the way, and she knows that she will eventually reach her goal.  This lovely book provides a great lesson for children.

This is the perfect book to express the meaning of Thanksgiving.  In our story, Taylor, the turkey, delivered thoughtful gifts to his friends to let them know how thankful he was for having them in his life.  That sweet idea spread, and others began doing the same.   What a wonderful message to give to our children.  Please put this wonderful book on your Thanksgiving reading list.

This fun story is about what happens to a jack-o’-lantern after Halloween is over.  Tim was so sad that his pumpkin was getting all wrinkled, so he put him out in the garden.  To his surprise, the next spring he found a sprout and before he knew it, he had a pumpkin patch.  When the holiday returned, Tim had his jack-o’-lantern back.  This is the perfect book for this time of year.

In our story, the squirrel is enjoying all of his beautiful leaves, but can’t figure out who keeps taking them.   After a lot of questioning, he finally figures out that the culprit is the “wind”.  This delightful story helps children to better understand how leaves change color in the fall.  The last two pages provides more information about this process.  This is just a fun story with wonderful illustrations.

In our story, a fun Halloween night is made more exciting by a witch and all of her friends.  The trick or treaters try to catch the witch, but she escaped every trap.  After all of the fun, the witch finally left, taking her friends with her.  This book is done in poetic verse and the illustrations are very colorful.

The sunflower seed in our story wasn’t always bad, but when he was bad, he was really bad.  The good news is that the Bad Seed figured out that he could change his behavior.  He wasn’t always perfect, but he was no longer “The Bad Seed”.  This is a great book for children to see how behaviors can be changed and that it’s okay if we aren’t always perfect.

Nigel and the Moon

Ages:  Preschool through Second Grade

 

In this beautiful book, Nigel tells the moon about his dreams of being a dancer, an astronaut or even a super hero, but he cannot say these dreams out loud.  During career week at school, he becomes even more afraid to express his dreams and is embarrassed that his parents do not have fancy jobs.  This story has a great ending and Nigel is finally able to express his dreams to his class.  This is a special story and a must read.

Double Puppy Trouble

Double Puppy Trouble            By:  Danica McKellar            Illustrated by:  Josee Masse

Ages:  Preschool through Third Grade

 

This fun book by Danica McKellar is another exploration in math, which she does so well.  This time the concept is the doubling of numbers.  In our story Moxie always wants more of everything.  She finds a magic stick which allows her to double all the things that she likes.  Unfortunately, the magic stick got stuck and kept doubling her dog Max.  With the help of Moxie’s little brother, the spell was broken and things returned to normal.  Not only does this book provide math practice, it is also just a wonderful story.
